The Department of Computer Engineering was established in 1998, with its first batch of students graduating in 2001. Since its inception, the department has been committed to providing quality technical education and preparing students for successful careers in the rapidly evolving field of information technology.
The department offers a three-year Diploma Programme in Computer Engineering comprising six semesters. The programme is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is administered under the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Kerala. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in computer science, programming, software development, networking, database management, and emerging technologies.
Through a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and practical training, students acquire the technical skills and professional competencies required to become successful IT professionals. The programme emphasizes problem-solving, innovation, teamwork, and lifelong learning to meet the demands of the technology-driven world.
Diploma holders in Computer Engineering are eligible for direct admission to the second year of Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) and Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) programmes through the Lateral Entry Scheme offered by the Government of Kerala and the Government of India. This provides students with excellent opportunities for academic advancement and specialization in various engineering disciplines.
The department has consistently maintained a strong placement record.
